An ode to Mums xxx
Mums are quite frankly amazing, mine is also my best friend and I think they all deserve some special treatment all year round but particularly on Mother's day, which this year falls on 14th March.
I remember one Mother's day, it was also my birthday as mine is the 29th March. I was only about 7 and I didn't get my mum a present or a card as I thought very selfishly that I didn't need to as it was MY birthday and I was the only special one!... I have never forgotton that day and how awful I felt as my mum and all mums for that matter are so unbelievably selfless but little children (as adorable as they are) aren't and just take all the time. I am now 33 and still think about that birthday and hate the fact that I did that, but I suppose I was only young!!! I always treat my mum now, but as we don't live near eachother I often send her flowers, I would love to be able to give her my cupcakes or a cake but they don't travel all the way to West Wales very well and I hate all of the packaging!!
Anyway, I have made some special, gorgeously delicious cupcakes for Mother's day this year and as purple is the new black, there is a purple theme. They are very indulgent with piped vanilla bean buttercream and sugar flowers and hearts.
This post is dedicated to all mums out there, you are all brilliant but especially to mine, Joy Cliff you are lovely and I love you very much.

Vintage lovers!
As I attended the vintage wedding fair last Sunday I thought I would share with all you vintage lovers out there and possibly bride and grooms to be all of the amazing people I met and their fab vintageness!
First off its Amy from Honeypie Boutique; they sell beautiful 50's style wedding dresses, vintage dresses and more. Amy was wearing one of her pieces all day at the fair, she is pictured here. Next is the lovely Lynda from Vintage to Vogue sells all things vintage from shoes to jewellery, some really gorgeous peices, I did try some on but they didnt fit, boo hiss!
Sat next to us was the couple who own the Lovebug 67, a very cool 1967 VW Beetle. Another vehicle that is a must for a vintage wedding is a vintage camper van, have a nose at Dubtrips for more information.
Shoes are very important no matter what occasion you are planning for! I instantly spotted some from where my stall was positioned, these were from Mary Cooper Antique Costume and Textiles.
If you are looking for some interesting music for your vintage wedding then contact Matt Nickson.
Personalised bouquets are becoming very popular at vintage weddings these days, I got chatting to Gabrielle Louise with her amazing handmade bridal accessories.
Make up is so important for brides on their day, I came across Clare Lennon, who specialises in vintage make up and hair styles, she was demonstrating at the fair and the women looked truly amazing, makeup in the 40's and 50's was so delicate, I know that my gran looked amazing on her wedding day; so elegant, I miss her.
Last but certainly not least was the Marvellous Tea Dance Company, these lovely ladies were serving tea and cakes all day to us stall holders and the visitors, they serve everything in vintage china and they hold tea dances, just my kind of company!!!
Not forgetting Vintage and Cake for vintage china hire and yummy cakes... that's me by the way just in case you forgot!

Lovely new collection of vintage china to hire
I am always building up my collection of vintage china and I came across this lovely miss matched set at the weekend. It is Queen Anne English fine bone china and it is gorgeous. I will be using it at the vintage wedding fair this Sunday to illustrate a perfect afternoon tea bride and groom place settings, complete with lavender heart name place cards.
Having a vintage themed afternoon tea is great if you mix and match your china, as long as the cup and saucer match then anything else can be a mix of colours, potteries, styles and eras. Beautiful!
I hope you enjoy the photos

Valentine's cupcakes and afternoon tea
Another little blog to share with you. The most romantic day of the year (well its supposed to be)is fast approaching and I would like to share with you examples of some Valentine's themed cupcakes. They look so lovely with the vintage china and as I always harp on about its such a lovely way to spend your afternoon with someone you think the world of! I think Valentine's should be for those you love in general, so friends, family and your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband or wife!
All you need is love! x

The Vintage Wedding Fair
Yes the Vintage wedding fair is nearly here. It will be held at The White Hart Hotel, Cold bath Road, Harrogate, on the 14th February, Valentine's day, what a perfect day for bride and grooms to be to have a wander round hand in hand (sorry I am sure it wont be as cliched as that!) looking at all the potential vintage delights they could have for their wedding! Cars, dresses, flowers (vintage colours not old flowers!) wedding favours and so many more.
I will be there with Vintage and Cake, exhibiting all of the beautiful vintage china available to hire for the big day. I will be showcasing different table centre piece options, 3 tier cake stands filled with gorgeous vintage style roses, courtesy of The Blossom Tree. Vintage glass vases filled with sweet smelling flowers, candelabras with tapered ivory candles and teapots filled with flowers and many more! I will also be showing how you can dress your tables vintage style. It will be lovely.
I am personally very excited about this fair as I LOVE vintage and one day, when I finally get married (mmm maybe) I will opt to have a vintage afternoon tea, obviously! and somehow I don't think I will have any trouble sourcing the china...
Please do come along to the fair and feel inspired, I am looking forward to having a good chat to people who love vintage just as much as me or even those who are just looking for something different and elegant for their wedding, I cant wait to chat to you about it all. Plus I will be giving away free cupcakes, hurray!
